No.31 Bistro Bar

No.31 (Rue 31) is the technical-map name of Hamra Street in Beirut. With its long history of glory, creativity and soul, Hamra is a true nightlife and culinary icon, that once housed the most extravagant, diverse parties and most charming cafés of Beirut.

I wanted the logo to represent the glory of the 60’s in Beirut, with a Bauhaus aesthetic, and plenty of shapes and colors that represent inclusivity.

The same shapes from the logo are used to create all kinds of symbols. Since the place is open day through night, breakfast till cocktail hour, I wanted to have 3 different eye shapes that represent: 1. the need for coffee in the morning 2. a chilled out afternoon & 3. a turned up night.

The placemats also echo the 3 occasions you can visit the bar: a day through night journey made with the same shapes.
